I titled this book "Cancer, I Thank You" with zero intention of being insensitive or downplaying its severity. I understand and sympathize with the impacts this devastation can have on people. That is the reason I am putting my heart and soul into this book. I want to ensure that people who are struggling (not just cancer, but adversity in general) know that they are capable of overcoming any obstacle. I want them to create a life they want to wake up to.
Getting blindsided with cancer myself at just 14 years old, I was exposed to many experiences nobody should have to endure. However, I am grateful. These moments shaped who I am today. Now, I write with the intention of helping the next kid.
I am here for you. I know how it can feel to have the cards stacked against you. I get you. I was there. But I can assure you that you are greater than this. There is nothing your mind can't overcome—including this time.
You deserve happiness. You deserve to feel heard. You deserve it all. That is why I am writing this book for you. I want you to experience what life has to offer. I want you to know there are people who care.
Overcoming this time will transform you into an incredible human being. Then, I ask you to pass it on to the next kid.
In case you are wondering. The answer is yes. I am Jerry.
I did everything here for you. I pulled my darkest experiences out of me for you. I don't want you to make the mistakes I made. Save yourself the pain and learn from mine.
I hope this book proves a couple of things to you:
You are heard. I hear you.
You are seen. I see you.
You are understood. I get you.
I am always in your corner. I just gave you the information I wish I could tell 14-year-old Anthony sitting on the dryer.
Now go live your life to the fullest extent. If you ever feel lost on your journey, this blueprint is always yours.
I still only ask one thing: Please help the next kid.
